David Schwezoff (Yaakov Dovid) - Born: Budapest (1979)

Master level economist (Finance & International Relations), studied at well-known universities of Europe, such as Corvinus University of Budapest, and the University of Manchester, Manchester Business School, presently PhD candidate. Experienced in banking management and management consultancy for over 11 years. 

He's been involved in music from his early childhood, attended various music schools, playing piano and singing from age 6. At age 15 he was honored as a Baal Tefilah. 

During his high school years, and after graduating, he visited Jewish communities in UK, Israel, Canada, US, and Germany. He started his Chazzanut studies at Yeshiva University's Belz School of Jewish Music in 1998. He has had the opportunity to consult and study with the chief cantor of Europe's largest synagogue in Budapest, and with the last Baal Tefilah of the Statusquo Ante movement in Hungary - Z"L-, who had song a wonderful nusach of Hungarian Jewry. 

Since 2001 he's one of the youngest Chazzonim in Hungary, first in Győr till 2006, and after in Komarno (Slovakia).

Presently he is the Cantor of the largest Status-Quo Ante Synagogue in Budapest, Hungary.

He is a cantorial graduate of Yeshiva University - Belz School of Jewish Music, as a student of the world's well-known Chazzonim: Cantor Joseph Malovany, Cantor Bernard Beer, and Cantor Sherwood Goffin. And also visited masterclasses of Cantor Moshe Haschel, Cantor Sol Zim, Cantor Asher Hainowitz, Cantor Naftali Hershtik, and Cantor Yaakov Motzen. 

Cantor Schwezoff`s voice coach is the well-known opera singer and teacher of Vienna Conservatory, Maria Teresa Uribe Reddeman. 

In his younger age attended to several well-known Yeshivas: Dvar Yerushalayim, Merkaz HaTorah, Shaarei Torah, and Yitzchak Elchanan. Now he completes exams for Semicha - Rabbinic ordination.

Cantor Schwezoff is an active participant of the European Cantorial Convention, attending every year for the Conferences, and dedicated to revitalize the chazzanut in Europe, and launching a European Cantorial Association as one of the founders.

Cantor Schwezoff speaks fluently English, Russian, and Hungarian. Nowadays improving his basic German and French.
